UTA’s New Electronic Fare Collection System

UTA is in the process of deploying an Electronic Fare Collection (EFC) system for all of its fixed route services (buses and trains). The first use of this new system will be for acceptance of and accounting for third party passes, like the U’s UTA Ed-Pass program. The new cards are equipped with contactless technology and come activated for use in the UTA system. Beginning in December 2008 all UTA Ed-Pass patrons will be required to present their card to readers upon boarding & exiting a UTA bus or train. The EFC system will also provide UTA and the U with information regarding the commuting patterns of our students and employees. Please be assured that the UTA Ed-Pass will not contain personally identifiable information regarding pass holders.
